RAID Card Replacement

Resolved · Posted in General Outages, Single Server Issue

While performing routine checks of the data center, we have identified an alert for one of the servers in the Seattle, WA, data center.

Date Monday, December 21, 2009
Services Affected Public / Pivate Network
Duration 30 Minutes

Seattle, WA, Data Center

Start Time 01:00 EST
End Time 01:30 EST

The issue has to do with the RAID card on the server, specifically with the battery backup unit (BBU).

The RAID card can be replaced fairly quickly, and the firmware will also require an update.

This issue isn't the most urgent issue but it is important. The BBU for the RAID card protects the integrity of the array in the event of a power failure or other issues such as a system crash.

Upon loss of power the BBU would work to gracefully shut the card down and protect the data.

The entire maintenance will take roughly thirty minutes barring any unforeseen issues.

If you have any problems with your connection to your services after this maintenance window, or if you have any questions regarding the maintenance at any point, please open a ticket with Technical Support.

We appreciate your patience during this work and welcome any feedback.
