RAID Battery Controller Replacement
Resolved · Posted in General Outages, Single Server Issue
We have received an alert from the RAID controller on host-120.crucialwebhost.com:
Logical device is degraded controller 1, logical device 0 ("RAID 10").
The downtime should be limited to a few minutes. The process will involve taking the server off the rack, removing the battery from the RAID card and replacing it. The RAID itself should not need to be rebuilt in this process.
The system itself is also not in a failed state, however you will see some performance loss due to some caching not being performed and there is some risk should the server lose power that data may not be correctly updated due to the battery being failed.
Ultimately, replacing the battery should have no impact on your data in any way. This is not the same as replacing a drive or the raid controller itself would be.
