Degraded Array Drive Replacement
Resolved · Posted in General Outages, Single Server Issue
While performing routine server checks, we have identified an alert for one of the servers in our Seattle, WA, data center.
The alert is for a degraded array, which is caused by a failing drive in the array:
--------------------------------------------------------
Logical device segment information
--------------------------------------------------------
Group 0, Segment 0 : Inconsistent (0,0)
Group 0, Segment 1 : Present (0,1) 3LM3DF7S00009829NSGW

Group 1, Segment 1 : Present (0,3) 3LM3DF8W00009829NSZ0
We have set the following maintenance window to take the server offline to resolve this issue:
| Date | Wednesday, May 26, 2010 |
| Services Affected | Public Network |
| Duration | 1-3 hours |
| Start Time | 12:00 MST |
| End Time | 15:00 MST |
The following Split-Dedicated containers that reside on this server will be offline while this maintenance takes place:
- sea-101
- sea-102
- sea-103
- sea-104
- sea-105
- sea-106
- sea-107
- sea-108
- sea-109
- sea-110
This issue is coupled with a firmware upgrade that needs to be done on the server's RAID card.
The drive will simply be replaced and the RAID rebuilt, and the firmware flash can be done during a 10 minute downtime maintenance.
Neither of these events should cause data impact on the server, however, we have ran a manual update on the remote backups for this server just in case.
If you have any problems with your connection to your services after this maintenance window, or if you have any questions regarding the maintenance at any point, please open a ticket with Technical Support.
We appreciate your patience during this work and welcome any feedback.
