Backup Restoration Fee

Resolved · Posted in Policy Changes

While we maintain daily backups of our clients' websites for internal purposes, this should not be confused with a backup solution, which we simply do not provide at this time.

In the event that you would like us to restore either a portion of your site or the entire thing, your account will be assessed a $50 fee for the restoration service.

Per our Terms of Service, clients agree "to maintain a current copy of all content hosted by Crucial Web Hosting."

You should never rely solely on a third-party company to maintain backups of your site, and are encouraged to use the built-in backup wizard in cPanel to generate backups as needed.

Please note, per our Resource Abuse Policy, "you may not use [your hosting account] for keeping backups, personal storage, repositories, or any other service unrelated to web hosting."

Simply put, after you've generated a backup, either offload it locally to your computer or remotely to another service. There's even an option when generating a backup to transfer the backup elsewhere using FTP or SFTP.

On a related note, we are in the process of developing a backup service to our clients that is separate from the shared and dedicated web hosting services we provide.
