The abuse and misuse of shared system resources is a serious problem. Accounts on a shared server must share resources with other users, so we must limit how much of the CPU and RAM that can be used by any one account.

In all fairness, we cannot allow one or two clients to use all of the system resources in a shared hosting environment. All other clients suffer because of it. Excessive CPU and RAM usage by one or more clients causes slowness in all areas.

We constantly monitor our servers for accounts that use more than their share of resources. The following resource usage policy has been implemented to protect the quality of service for our clients:

CPU usage may not exceed 20%
RAM usage may not exceed 10%
Active HTTP connections may not exceed 30
Active MySQL connections may not exceed 15
Single file size limit is 256 MB
Database size is limited to 20% of the total disk space allotted
Inodes are limited to 50,000, 75,000, and 100,000 depending on your isolation level
Email is limited to 100 outbound messages an hour per account
IMAP is limited to 5 total connections per IP address
Running cron scripts with intervals of less than 15 minutes is prohibited
Setting up more than 5 simultaneous cron jobs is prohibited
Running stand-alone, unattached server side processes or daemons is prohibited
Running any type of spider or indexer is prohibited
Running proxy sites, torrent, P2P, or file servers is prohibited
You may not use this space for keeping backups, personal storage, repositories, or any other service unrelated to web hosting

These resource allocations have been determined to be far more than sufficient for any shared hosting client.

Exceptions

There are special exceptions to these rules to be determined at the time we discover abuse. There are different combinations of usage that can create problems and other special cases.

At any given time a server is unstable and an account is found to be the cause, we reserve the right to suspend the account to keep the server online and operating normally.

If the usage is an increased trend, we recommend the user upgrade their plan to a shared hosting environment with fewer clients or to a dedicated hosting environment.

Suspensions

In the event that your website has been suspended for resource abuse that cannot be resolved by removing or modifying a script and you do not wish to upgrade to a plan to accommodate your site's needs, you will be given the opportunity to download your files within 48 hours of the suspension.

The account will remain suspended until such time that traffic has subsided or abusive scripts have been disabled. After this time, FTP access will be granted to remove files.

Repeat Violations

We have a three strike rule in regards to our abuse policy.

A second failure to comply with this policy could result in a $50 reactivation fee.

A third violation will result in the termination of your account.

Any account that has violated any of the above policies forfeits the right to a refund.
