Backup Wizard

The backup wizard is a user-friendly interface for creating a backup of your entire site, a partial backup, or allowing you to restore from the last backup saved. This tool may be useful to new users.

Using the backup wizard, you can backup and save your entire website or a portion of your website.

You can also use the Restore link to select files to restore portions of your site.

To begin, first select whether you would like to backup or restore your website.

Backup Your Entire Site

  1. Select Backup from the first page.
  2. Select Full Backup from the second page.
  3. Select the destination for the backup file (you'll have three options):
    • You can store the files in your home directory on the server by selecting Home Directory from the pulldown menu.
    • You can store the files to a remote machine using FTP or SCP.
    • You can download the file to your computer.
  4. Click Generate Backup. If FTP or SCP was used, an email will be sent to the address that you specified at the beginning of the process.
  5. To download a copy of the backup file to your computer, click the filename under Backups Available for Download.

Create A Partial Backup

  1. Select Backup from the first page.
  2. Select the portion of your site to backup by clicking Home Directory or MySQL Databases.
  3. Click the appropriate link or button on the following page to store the required information to your computer or server.

The type of backup file will depend on what portion of your site you are saving to your computer. Please refer to the following table:

MySQL Database *.sql

Restore A Partial Backup

  1. Select Restore from the first page.
  2. Select the portion of your site you would like to restore by clicking on Home Directory or MySQL Databases.
  3. Select the file from your computer that should be used to restore the portion of your website that you've selected.
  4. Click Upload to finish the restoration process.

The type of backup file will depend on what portion of your site you are saving to your computer. Please refer to the following table:
