High Availability Split-Shared Hosting
Crucial’s Split-Shared hosting is kept in a highly available hosting environment. The Split-Shared hosting service is an advanced service provider configuration that places shared hosting accounts or services on individual Virtual Environments (VEs).
Shared hosting is easily the most common hosting service model, but it is fraught with risk without isolation between customers. A single event could take down 1000s of shared customers who value uptime and reliability.
Split-Shared hosting provides multiple benefits not available with traditional shared hosting used by other companies:
Isolation
With Split-Shared hosting, you are not lumped in with hundreds or even thousands of other hosting clients. A typical Crucial VE contains 30-50 client accounts. This greatly reduces the risk that other hosting clients will be able to effect the performance of your Split-Shared hosting.
Security
Every Split-Shared hosting VE is completely private from other VEs. Should a VE be exploited due to insecure hosting files, only the single VE is affected, greatly reducing the risk of exploit to your hosting environment.
Performance
Each VE is provisioned with an ample amount of resources to manage 30-50 clients. These resources are guaranteed to always be available to the VE. In times of heavy use or overloading of the guaranteed VE resources, the VE is configured to use up to the maximum server resources available automatically.
Scalability
Crucial Split-Shared hosting accounts are provisioned on true enterprise-class hardware. If at anytime the Crucial Systems Administrators determine that a VE needs more resources to provide quality service to the clients of that VE, they can instantly double, triple, etc., any system resource without a reboot. This includes the amount of memory, disk space, and CPU allocated to the VE, providing instant scalability with zero downtime.
Portability
Crucial employs the latest available cluster technology. This provides the ultimate in website uptime and account portability. Within the Crucial cluster, we have the ability to migrate your single hosting account to a new VE, or entirely new hardware node (physical server) within the cluster without interrupting ANY service. The migration includes the IP address assigned to your account, so there are no DNS caching issues. We can even migrate an entire VE to a new hardware node (physical server) with ZERO downtime.
Reliability
The cumulative effect of the technology provided by a Crucial Web Hosting Split-Shared hosting account is reliability for the client. All of these advantages illustrate exactly why Crucial’s Split-Shared hosting is better than the traditional model of filling up a cheap web server with 1000s of clients.

A very happy move for me, with my pages seeming to load blazingly fast:
Certainly better performance than I’ve had on a multitude of other hosts, ranging from Dreamhost to Media Temple to Precision Effect to Mosso. Whatever you’ve got behind the scenes here, it seems to be doing its job well.
I just hope if I should happen to get Dugg you could keep things running. Are there any kind of measures in place for that possibility? (Not really something a webmaster can control!).
